26 Front-End Developer Resume Examples & Guide for 2026

Engineering managers hiring a front-end developer check your framework, the screens you shipped and what changed for the people using them. Use these examples and the guide below to put numbers on speed, accessibility and component work, and to place your portfolio and certificates where a reviewer finds them.

Front-End Developer resume example

A front-end developer turns a design into the part of a product people touch: the buttons, forms and pages that have to work on every screen and in every browser. Your framework comes first, then what you have shipped with it and whether those screens got faster, easier to use or simpler to maintain after your work. The strongest evidence is concrete, such as a checkout you rebuilt, a component library other teams adopted, or a product page that now loads in 2 seconds on a phone.

How to Write a Front-End Developer Resume - Key Takeaways

  • Keep a reverse-chronological layout on 1 page, and save a second page for 10+ years or lead roles across several products.
  • Open with 2 to 3 lines naming your framework, the kind of interface you build and 1 before-and-after number.
  • Give bullets the numbers front-end teams track: load times, JavaScript shipped, accessibility findings closed, test coverage and components reused.
  • Write React, Angular or Vue.js, TypeScript and your testing tools the way the job ad spells them, in Skills and again inside a bullet.
  • Add 1 portfolio or GitHub link to your contact line, and name the product in each bullet so a reviewer can look it up.
  • Before you apply, confirm that every framework name reads as plain text with an ATS resume checker.

What engineering managers check on a front-end developer resume

The BLS describes front-end web developers as the people who create the technical features for a website's look, while back-end developers handle its overall technical construction. O*NET's core tasks for the occupation include writing supporting code for web applications, checking that code works across browsers, devices and operating systems, and testing a site after every product revision. An engineering manager reads your resume to see how much of that you own, in which framework, and on what kind of product.

So say what you build (a booking flow, an internal dashboard, a design system, a storefront) and how many people or teams use it. Then lay the page out in these sections:

  • Name, a headline with your framework (for example, Front-End Developer, React and TypeScript), contact details and 1 portfolio or GitHub link
  • A 2- to 3-line opening statement, printed without a heading
  • Work Experience, current role first, with freelance or contract work as separate entries
  • Skills, holding your languages, frameworks, styling approach and testing tools
  • Education, including a bootcamp or certificate program
  • Certificates, only if you hold any
  • Room left over: Key Achievements, Volunteer Experience or Languages

Best format for a front-end developer resume

List your roles in reverse-chronological resume format, newest first, and give each one a title, employer, location and dates written as MM/YYYY. Front-end careers tend to climb from junior to mid-level, senior and lead, and the order lets a manager see your scope grow from single components to features and then to the architecture other developers build on. Interns, bootcamp graduates and career changers keep the same order and move Education higher.

The 3 resume formatsWhich format works best for a front-end developer resume?Use the reverse-chronological format unless one of the other two fits your situation better. Each card opens its full guide.

A single page holds most front-end careers up to roughly 10 years. Senior and lead developers who have run a design system, a framework migration or a team of engineers can use 2 pages, provided page 1 holds the 2 most recent roles and the headline.

Front-End Developer resume format cheatsheet
SettingWhat to use
Length1 page; 2 only past about 10 years or for lead roles across several products
HeadlineTitle plus your main stack: Front-End Developer, React and TypeScript
Links1 portfolio or GitHub URL, written out in full on the contact line
DatesMM/YYYY on both ends, with Present while you still work there
Photo and private dataLeave the photo off for most US and Canadian employers, along with your age, family status and any Social Security number
File typeA text-based PDF, never a screenshot or an image exported from Figma

Most US and Canadian resumes carry no photo. Your portfolio already shows your visual taste, so the resume can stay plain: real, selectable text an applicant tracking system can read, with framework names spelled out rather than shown as logos.

Front-end developer resume summary vs. objective

The test is simple: if anyone has paid you to build interfaces, freelance work included, write a resume summary with your framework, the product type and 1 result. If not, write a resume objective that names the role you want and the best thing you have built and shipped. Keep either one to 2 or 3 lines, and write it after your bullets so it can borrow their strongest number.

Front-end developer resume summary formula

Title who builds kind of interface in framework, language and styling. X years, scale of the product or team. 1 result with a before and after number.

Example

Front-end developer who builds booking and checkout screens in React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. 6 years, the last 3 on a travel site with about 1.2 million visitors a month. Brought the hotel search page's mobile load time from 3.6 to 2.1 seconds by splitting its JavaScript.

Don't

Creative front-end developer passionate about building pixel-perfect, user-friendly web experiences.

Do

Front-end developer with 4 years on an Angular insurance portal used by 30,000 agents. Moved 60 screens onto a shared component set and cut UI defect reports from about 40 to 12 a month.

The rewrite names the framework, the product, its users and a change a manager can ask about.

How to write front-end developer work experience bullets with numbers

Give your current role 3 to 4 bullets and older roles 2 to 4, each opening with a verb and closing on what changed for users or for the team. Write achievements on your resume rather than duties: "built React components" describes the job, while the component library 5 teams now import describes your result. Pull the figures from Lighthouse or field data, your test reports and your pull request history.

Numbers that prove front-end development work
AreaWhat to countExample bullet
Page speedLCP, INP or CLS before and afterMoved the account dashboard's filter logic into a web worker, cutting mobile INP from 410 to 170 milliseconds.
JavaScript shippedKilobytes on first load, libraries removedRemoved 3 unused chart libraries and trimmed the app's initial JavaScript from 1.1 MB to 520 KB.
AccessibilityWCAG level, audit findings closed, screens coveredRebuilt 12 form screens for keyboard and screen reader use and passed an external WCAG 2.2 AA audit with 0 critical findings.
Components and design systemsComponents built, teams or apps using themBuilt a 45-component Storybook library in React that 5 product teams import instead of copying markup.
Testing and releasesTests added, coverage, rolled-back releasesAdded 260 Playwright end-to-end tests and cut rolled-back releases from 6 a quarter to 1.
User outcomesTask completion, sign-ups, form errorsRewrote the sign-up form's validation messages and raised completed sign-ups from 58% to 71%.

For speed, use the metrics Google calls Core Web Vitals and give each a before and after. Google's web.dev counts a page as good when Largest Contentful Paint happens within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint stays at 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift stays at 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads. INP became a stable Core Web Vital in 2024, so older roles may report First Input Delay instead.

Here is one developer's entry with those numbers in place. The current role leads with speed and reuse, and the agency job before it gets 2 shorter lines.

Sample entry: front-end developer at a travel booking site

Work Experience

  • Replaced a jQuery image slider on 9 client sites with a 4 KB vanilla JavaScript module.

Don't

Developed new features using React.

Do

Built a saved-trips feature in React and Redux Toolkit that 22% of signed-in users tried in its first month.

The rewrite says what the feature was, what it ran on and how many people used it.

Don't

Ensured cross-browser compatibility.

Do

Fixed 31 layout bugs in Safari and Firefox on the order history pages, tested on 8 real devices through BrowserStack.

Front-end developer skills, frameworks and testing tools

Pick 6 to 8 technical skills for your resume that the posting names and a bullet of yours backs up. HTML, CSS and JavaScript are assumed for every front-end role, so the skills that tell candidates apart are your framework, TypeScript, state management, testing and accessibility.

Hard skills for front-end developers

  • Semantic HTML
  • CSS layout (Flexbox and Grid)
  • JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
  • React, Angular or Vue.js
  • State management (Redux, NgRx or Pinia)
  • Responsive, mobile-first design
  • Web accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA)
  • Performance and Core Web Vitals
  • Unit and end-to-end testing
  • REST and GraphQL integration

Soft skills engineering leads value

  • Working from design files with designers
  • Clear pull request descriptions
  • Giving and taking code review
  • Estimating front-end work
  • Explaining tradeoffs to product managers
  • Attention to visual detail

Name each framework and tool exactly, then show it again in the bullet where you used it. O*NET lists React, Google Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, Node.js, Git and GitHub among the hot and in-demand technologies for web developers, and still flags jQuery and Bootstrap as hot. List an older library only if the posting asks for it or the role maintains legacy code, and give your testing tools by name: Jest, Vitest, Cypress or Playwright says more than "testing".

Portfolio, GitHub and certifications for front-end developers

Front-end development needs no license, and the BLS notes that candidates may not need specific education credentials if they can show their abilities through prior work or projects. Certificates are optional extras that help most when you have little paid experience or a posting names one. Under Certificates, list certifications on your resume with the issuing company and the month and year you passed.

Certificates front-end developers list, and what each takes
CredentialIssued byWhat it takes
Meta Front-End Developer Professional CertificateMeta, through CourseraA 9-course online series on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React; Coursera lists no prior experience as required.
AWS Certified Developer (Associate)Amazon Web ServicesA 130-minute exam of 65 questions on building and maintaining applications on AWS; AWS recommends 1+ year of hands-on experience, and the credential stays valid for 3 years.

Where your portfolio link goes

Put 1 link on your contact line, written in full so it survives a printout, and paste the same link into the application form's website field. Point it at live work or repositories with a readme, a screenshot and recent commits. Because a parsed resume cannot be clicked, every bullet still needs to name the product and what you did in it.

Sample Certificates section: a course certificate and a cloud exam

Certificates

  • Meta Front-End Developer Professional Certificate, Meta (Coursera), 06/2023
  • AWS Certified Developer (Associate), Amazon Web Services, 05/2025

How to list a degree, bootcamp or self-taught front-end training

The BLS puts the education range for web developers anywhere from a high school diploma to a bachelor's degree, and notes that some employers prefer a bachelor's in a specific field such as computer science. When listing education on a resume, give the degree or program, the school with its city, and the month you finished. Add a GPA of 3.5 or higher only in the first 2 to 3 years after graduating.

A bootcamp goes under Education with its full program name and end date, just like a degree. Self-taught developers can skip a line for every online course and let freelance entries, open-source pull requests and the portfolio carry the proof; 1 line for a structured program is enough.

Sample education entry: computer science degree

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science05/2020
University of Louisiana at Lafayette | Lafayette, LA

Senior project: a React app for booking campus study rooms, used by 3 departments.

Intern, entry-level and career-change front-end developer resumes

Without a paid developer job yet, follow an entry-level resume layout: an objective, Education near the top, then every piece of shipped front-end work, counted the way a full-time job would be. Students applying for an internship lead with the degree and its expected graduation date.

  • Internships: the product and team, the screens or components you shipped, and a before-and-after number.
  • Freelance builds: a Work Experience entry under your own name, with the number of clients or sites and what each one does.
  • Open-source pull requests: merged changes, the project they went into and what they fixed.
  • Apps for a club or nonprofit: Volunteer Experience, with users, sign-ups or pages.
  • Capstone and class projects: under Education, only when they are live or in a public repository.

Don't

Aspiring front-end developer looking for a chance to learn and grow with a great team.

Do

Computer science junior seeking a front-end developer internship. Built a React course-planner app that 340 students used for fall 2026 registration, with 0 axe accessibility errors on its 5 screens.

An objective still needs a shipped project, its users and a quality check.

Moving over from graphic design, UX, QA testing or email marketing, leave the dates newest first and let your first front-end role, freelance work or bootcamp lead. Under the earlier job, keep 2 or 3 bullets a front-end team can use, such as building HTML email templates, writing test plans or handing off Figma files to developers. A career-change resume saves the reason for the move for the letter, and our software engineer cover letter examples show how to explain a switch into code in a short paragraph.

Front-End Developer resume FAQ

Should I put my GitHub on a front-end developer resume?

Yes, if its pinned repositories show work you are proud of, with readmes and recent commits. Put 1 link on your contact line. If your best code is private company work, link a portfolio of live screens instead and describe the private work in your bullets.

How long should a front-end developer resume be?

1 page for most front-end developers with under 10 years of experience. Senior and lead developers who have run a design system, a migration or a team can use 2 pages, as long as the headline and 2 most recent roles sit on page 1.

Do I need a computer science degree to become a front-end developer?

No. The BLS says education for web developers ranges from a high school diploma to a bachelor's degree, though some employers prefer a degree in a specific field. Without one, a bootcamp, freelance work and a strong portfolio carry your resume.

Should I list every JavaScript framework I have used?

No. List the framework the job ad asks for and any you have shipped production work in, which for most developers is 1 or 2. A framework you tried in a weekend tutorial invites interview questions you cannot answer well.

Can personal projects go on a front-end developer resume?

Yes, when they are live or public and you can show users or results. Paid client work goes under Work Experience as a freelance entry, apps for a nonprofit or club under Volunteer Experience, and class projects under Education.

Is a front-end developer resume different from a web developer resume?

Yes, mostly in emphasis. A front-end resume centers on frameworks, components, accessibility, testing and interface speed, while a general web developer resume often adds CMS work, hosting and back-end code. O*NET lists Front End Engineer and UI Developer among the job titles for the occupation, so copy the title the posting uses.

How much do front-end developers make?

The BLS does not report front-end developers separately; its May 2025 figure for web developers as a group is a median of $92,650 a year. Pay varies with framework, seniority and location. Leave salary off your resume and discuss it during the interview process.
