The academic-specific sections are really very well-built: Publications section correctly separates title, authors, publisher, and date, and Honor Awards sections separates the award name from the issuing institution, which is more complete than Certificates Section on the Resume side, and it does check that a date is present rather than leaving it purely decorative. Also, it gave me well-reasoned, specific advice, for example it explained me that a missing city can cause some ATS systems to reject an application outright, recommended single-column layout, because two-column formats can confuse older ATS parsers, and suggested including a LinkedIn, GitHub, or personal website link since an online presence matters in modern job searching. Work Experience entries showed me two separate checks, one for bullet count, one for action verbs and quantification which I like a lot because it shows that the coaching evaluates more than one dimension of quality.

If you're applying for a job outside the US, or for a role in academia, chances are you'll be asked for a CV instead of a resume and, while the two are similar, they're not quite interchangeable. The site distinguishes between a CV section and a Resume section, each offering distinct categories. The CV section includes formats such as UK and USA styles, CV with photo, and ATS-friendly templates, alongside more universal categories shared with the resume section (e.g. traditional, academic). This separation appears to reflect differences in career length and regional conventions, which makes sense in principle - though the distinction isn't immediately obvious to a new user.
That said, the templates themselves are polished and well-structured, with a strong range of options to suit different needs. The educational content explaining the difference between a CV and a resume, along with other practical tips, is genuinely useful - though it could be made more visible/prominent within the site.

These make the most visual sense to me, though I might be old school about it. I want to flag the headshot question here. More photos are showing up on resumes, and that's generally not done in the United States, largely because of our history of bias and the labor laws that came out of it. I've worked with a hiring manager who asked for specific ethnicities because he believed they were better at math, and we had to strip names off resumes to keep candidates from getting cut at the review stage. So no, I'm not a fan of headshots on resumes. They're cute, I guess. 

The headline and summary space works well across these templates, and the visual hierarchy and white space hold up. The skill measurement bars show up again here, and my read stays the same. They don't tell me anything I can act on about someone's actual level. Precision might be my favorite, though I lean minimalist by default. The Minimalist and Edge templates both carry a lot of white space. The student CVs are strong options.
